![]() ![]() FiOS delivers TV over coaxial, however if you want all of the features of the set-top boxes you need to introduce a MoCA signal on your coax as well. If you have TV, you still need coax for TV service. They are only trained on THEIR equipment, expecting any sort of technical support from verizon in configuring someone else's equipment is just silly. You can use literally any router you want assuming you don't have TV service.Īt the end of the day, everyone has different needs, and any answers you get here based on the information you've provided thus far will be educated guessing, you simply haven't provided enough information about your specific needs and the exact situation for us to do anything besides guess.įurther, Verizon has no responsibility to train their employees to work on potentially 100+ different router models from a dozen manufacturers. If you don't have TV service it's even easier, just plug whatever router you want to use into the ONT's Ethernet connection and you're good to go. Just plug in the ONT Ethernet connection into the routers WAN port, then use a MoCA adapter and then connect the Ethernet end to a LAN port on your router, then connect the coaxial side of the adapter to your houses coax runs (assuming your house is wired with coax). To do this you can use the provided FiOS router which has a built in MoCA bridge, or you can use a standalone Ethernet to MoCA adapter and then use any router you want (though you might have to forward some ports manually). Verizon requires MoCA (coaxial) internet connection for their TV set top boxes to get all of their features. I'm assuming since you have a recent installation you're on Ethernet since Verizon mostly doesn't do any coaxial installs anymore. Optical network terminal, the unit that converts the fiber into Ethernet (or coaxial depending on your setup) This should be able to work as I cant believe you are forced to use only a verizon router with a FIOS setup! Verizon wont help me any further because they say there only concerned with the verizon router working and we tried to contact netgear when I had verizon tech support but after awhile she said she could now call them due to the numbers being blocked and I heard the phone ringing she did not want to wait for netgear to finally answer the phone was the problem and from what I have seen if they send a tech they would probably not be able to fix the problem either so I have to figure it out on my own with peoples help here so ty for all the help everyone has been giving! I will post later today giving the full details of my current setup. I had been using the netgear since I started using comcast a year ago and it worked fine but I just was using a approved comcast modem so there was none of my current problems with that setup. I just got my network working again after trying to reset both my verizon and netgear router and as of right now the wireless is barely working and I definitely need to get my netgear router working again!
